Biography

Captain Juan's

ABOUT CAPTAIN

Juan is currently 33 and a native of Quepos, currently a resident of Herradura where he lives with his wife of 10 years and 3 children. He holds the equivalent of a US Captains License through certifications from Costa Rican International Maritime Organization. These include First Aid, Boat Safety / Personal Survival, and Social Responsibilities.

Fish Hunter Captain

He started fishing at the age of 14 as a mate with his Uncle Warner Porras on the Dream II based out of Los Suenos. At the age of 22 Juan was able to become Captain of the Dream II and continued fishing until 3 years later he was able to purchase the Fish Nautique that is currently “Fish Hunter”. Fish Hunter holds its charter boat license by the Costa Rican Government and is equipped with the latest Electronics, Safety Equipment and Tackle.

HIS PASSION

He has a passion for both offshore sport and bottom fishing as well as inshore fishing. Juan spends his time researching the current fishing conditions to achieve successful results both Offshore and Onshore. Offshore trips start when he gathers live bait to catch Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna, Mahi, Wahoo, Grouper, Congrio, Tile Fish and Red Snapper. When fishing inshore the catch includes Rooster Fish, Dog Snapper, Rock Snapper, Jack Caravell and Yellow Tail to name a few.
